The 288 Calgary Group is especially keen in
teaching our youth the conventional Scouting
skills such as knotting, lashing, spicing,
pioneering projects, mapping, use of
compass, first aid, camping hiking (including
making hiking logs) and leadership skill;
recently we have added talent by the joining
of some new Scouters to bring in knowledge
of alpine hiking, winter hiking, winter
camping and use of GPS (Global Positioning
System). Some of our Scout Troop and Venture
Company members have also achieved the
Edingburg's Award up to the Gold level
membership besides achieving the Scouting
own Chief Scout Award and Queen's Venturer
Award, which are the highest honor in the
Scout and Venture sections.
Due to the convince of having a few
Scouters in each section, the 288 Calgary
Group is able to have new recruits all year
round. We welcome youth of both genders in
the following sections:
Cubs - 7 to 10 years of age
Scouts - 11 to 14 years of age
Venturers - 14 to 17 years of age
Leaders - 18 years of age or over
